Sell Your Gold and Recycle Old Jewelry
Secure Gold Buyer

One of the best advantages of old jewelry that most people overlook is that they are recyclable. In fact, you can take one piece of jewelry and recycle it again and again, over many years. As long as the metal is intact, the jewelry can be melted and re-melted to create a virtually endless number of sizes and designs. If you think that once you sell gold you'll be disposing it forever, you're actually not. You can sell gold and recycle old jewelry not just for others but also for yourself.

What happens to jewelry you sell?
Once you decide to sell gold or any piece of jewelry or valuable item that contains precious metals and gems, gold buyers will appraise the value of its metal content. There are two criteria that gold buyers generally consider: the amount of precious metal contained in the jewelry and the weight. In the case of gold, the purest is 99.9 % pure, which is generally referred to as 24k. The lower the karat, the lower the percentage of gold used in the jewelry.

In general, old jewelry often contains premium grade gold and higher amounts of precious metal. You can probably see this in the workmanship of some of the valuables you own. Unfortunately, old jewelry also tends to be outdated and people just simply stop liking them. As a result, old jewelry is often found in the most hidden parts of drawers, forgotten.

A good alternative to simply bringing old jewelry to the pawnshop would be to sell it for its gold value. By doing so, you earn enough money to purchase new jewelry and even get the opportunity to allow someone to recycle your old jewelry. Once you trade old jewelry for cash, the gold buyer will either process it or send it to a third party to do. The gold is then re-used or resold as raw material or redesigned into new jewelry. That old, broken, tangled gold bracelet you sold will someday become a new ring, adorning someone's fingers or perhaps hanging from a necklace as a pendant.

Recycling old jewelry
Even if you sold your gold, you could still recycle old jewelry yourself. Gold buyers will often assess only the metallic part of old jewelry. Any stones or gems found are removed and assessed separately. In most cases, only diamonds are considered. So if your old jewelry contains stones such as rubies, sapphires or citrine, you're better off removing them and selling the metallic setting. You can then use the loose stones and have a jeweler turn them into brand new pieces of jewelry. That way, you get to recycle what old jewelry you have, keep the good memories with you and still profit from the sale.
